La Mancha
Designation of origin on the plateau of Castilla-La Mancha, one of the most extensive in Spain, known for its Airén whites and Tempranillo reds.
La Mancha covers a broad plain on the southern plateau, spread across the provinces of Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Toledo. Its climate is markedly continental, with very hot summers, cold winters and little rain, on mostly limestone and clay soils. Airén is the traditional white grape and Tempranillo, known here as Cencibel, the main red, alongside other authorised varieties such as Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Macabeo and Verdejo. It mainly produces young whites and reds, rosés and barrel-aged reds.

On the wine list, La Mancha usually reads as good-value wine that is easy to understand. Stating the grape and whether it is young or aged helps guests see that there are different styles within the same appellation.
When to highlight it
It fits well in by-the-glass offers, set lunch menus and lists that need accessible references for everyday drinking. It can also be highlighted alongside Manchego or Castilian cooking, where the regional pairing comes naturally.
