Are Penedès and Cava the same thing?

No. Penedès is a DO for still wines. Cava is a DO for sparkling wines produced in several regions, although the greatest concentration is in Penedès.

It is a native Catalan white variety. It produces full-bodied whites with notes of apple, almond and Mediterranean herbs, good acidity and ageing potential.
