Ribera del Júcar
Designation of origin in the south of the province of Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha, along the Júcar river, focused on Bobal and Tempranillo reds and still little known on wine lists.
Ribera del Júcar is a designation of origin in the south of the province of Cuenca, in Castilla-La Mancha, along the course of the Júcar river. The vineyards spread across the plateau, with a continental climate of warm summers and cold winters and, often, marked differences between day and night temperatures. The main red grapes are Bobal and Tempranillo, joined by some international varieties. It is a young, little-known area producing fruit-driven reds and some whites.

What it signals on a wine list
Wine-list perception
On the wine list, Ribera del Júcar signals discovery: a Bobal or Tempranillo red from an area few guests know. It is worth adding a short note on the grape and the area so it does not go unnoticed.
When to highlight it
It fits when the wine list has a discovery section or a section for emerging areas. It can also work by the glass as a front-of-house suggestion, where the explanation does much of the selling.
Guest profile
Adventurous diners who want to try something different, or guests who already know Bobal from other areas and want another take on the variety.
Best sales angle
Sell it on novelty and on the grape: a Bobal red from inland Cuenca, presented as an alternative to the usual names.
