Manchuela

Designation of origin between the provinces of Cuenca and Albacete, in Castilla-La Mancha, known for its reds from Bobal, the traditional grape of this inland area.

Manchuela stretches between the provinces of Cuenca and Albacete, in Castilla-La Mancha, on a plateau lying between the Júcar and Cabriel rivers. It has a continental climate with some Mediterranean influence and mostly limestone and clay soils. Bobal is the leading grape, alongside Tempranillo and other red and white varieties. It mainly makes Bobal reds, from young and fruity to barrel-aged wines, as well as whites.

When to highlight it

It is a good option when looking for a red with character and good value for money. It also lets you suggest a Bobal that differs from those of Utiel-Requena.
